ITU-Powerman WM Zofingen

Countdown in Zofingen, Powerman Longdistance

SR: The national associations are becoming partners to Powerman with the ITU-label. This leads to a better appreciation of Duathlon. Triathletes should be addressed especially with the new Powerman Long Distance race (10km running, 120km biking and 20km running). Besides Zofingen, there will be at least three more races over these distances.
What is Powerman Zofingen’s role for the future?

JR: It has to be the appeal of every duathlete to participate at a World Championship and at the finals in Zofingen. Every participant should be proud that she or he made the qualification over a different Powerman race and therefore received a VIP-slot for Zofingen.
Who holds the future – Duathlon or Triathlon?

SR: Triathlon was growing at an impressive pace. But right now we see that duahtlon holds a huge potential in the long run. Running and biking can be done everywhere, but swimming has to be trained in a different way. This shows to be difficult, especially in the Asian and emerging countries. The considerable requests for Powerman events come mainly from these countries.
